Protective Services for Adults
The Protective Services for Adults (PSA) program is under the auspices of The New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). The overarching goals of this program are to educate community service providers to recognize and respond to adult abuse, and to understand the role of local district PSA offices in New York State. Local district PSA staff and supervisors are the primary target groups participating in this training. In addition, training is provided to local district professionals from multiple disciplines with the goal of increasing their knowledge of PSA mandates and service population needs.
The goals of this contract are:
- Provide mandated training for new PSA caseworkers and supervisors;
- Provide training on the legal aspects of PSA;
- Build the expertise and skills of PSA caseworkers and supervisors in the specialized aspects of their jobs;
- Enhance linkages among agencies serving elderly and vulnerable adults with interdisciplinary training that includes PSA staff, Extended In-Service for the Elderly Program (EISEP) case managers and local community service networks;
- Provide regional training, teleconferences and other distance learning opportunities.
