Brookdale Faculty Fellows Program

The Brookdale Faculty Fellows Program is designed to foster an environment that encourages cross-disciplinary connections and to nurture a collaborative spirit among faculty of the schools and centers at Hunter College . The program identifies faculty with a demonstrated interest in various facets of aging research, education, and training, and provides them with a forum to discuss aging issues, develop multidisciplinary projects and initiatives, and interact with Brookdale staff and the extensive network of community-based agencies that serve older New Yorkers.

As part of this program, Brookdale Faculty Fellows will be listed on the Center’s website and will be invited to participate in monthly research seminars in which faculty fellows will present their current research. In addition, Brookdale will also sponsor 2-3 guest speaker lectures each semester, which will highlight emerging topics in the field of aging. A Brookdale Faculty Fellows listserv will enhance communication and dissemination of gerontologic news and events of potential interest to faculty.

Brookdale Faculty Research Fellows

Brookdale introduces a new Faculty Research Fellows initiative as part of the 2010-2011 Faculty Fellows program. Research Fellows will be selected from the larger pool of 2009-2010 Brookdale Faculty Fellows to participate in a second-year program for which Fellows will receive course release time and staff support to develop topics initiated in the first year. Up to 2 awards per School (Health Professions, Nursing, Social Work, and Arts and Science) will be granted. Brookdale’s research staff has extensive experience in survey design, focus groups, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, GIS mapping, outcomes research, and cost-effectiveness analysis.

Selection Process

  • Faculty Fellows: Faculty Fellows are selected based on interest and experience in gerontological teaching and research.
  • Faculty Research Fellows: Details on the application and selection process for Faculty Research Fellows will be provided to Faculty Fellows in Spring 2010.
