About Us
In 2007, the Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging and Longevity of Hunter College of the City University of New York (BCHAL) and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Program (HEPP) conducted an assessment of Adult Care Facilities (ACFs) on their emergency preparedness needs and held a series of focus groups. As a result, the following website has been created to address the following concerns:
- Communication with city emergency managers during a disaster was a chief interest among Adult Care Facilities (ACFs)
- ACFs stated that they did not have a ready means of getting information about current or imminent emergencies
- ACFs expressed a need for a clearer understanding of how New York City would interact with them in an emergency; and
- the resources available to help them strengthen their preparedness effort
