The Sadin Institute on Law & Public Policy
The Daily Money Management (DMM) Assistance Program was developed by the Sadin Institute on Law & Public Policy as part of its Reingold Elder Abuse Project. The program goal is to encourage and assist care management agencies to safely and effectively offer DMM services. The DMM Assistance Program is managed by Reingold Project Director, Debra Sacks, who is a nurse and attorney. She has worked with senior centers, neighborhood social service agencies, senior housing complexes and home care agencies to help set up money management programs.
Brookdale Center's DMM Assistance Program offers interested agencies formal staff trainings and technical assistance in the following areas:
- start-up procedures;
- money management program policy and
procedures;
- standard risk management tools;
- documentation and
standardized forms.
The DMM Assistance Program also trains agencies on power of attorney, representative payee, and property management guardian. The Reingold Project can also partner an established money management program with an agency just starting the process.
Original funding for this project was provided in 2003 by the Manhattan Borough President's Office who recognized the need for daily money management among older and disabled adults.
For further information on setting up a daily money management assistance program, please contact Debra Sacks at rdsacks@aol.com.
