Jean Callahan, JD, MSW is Director of the Hunter College's Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging and Longevity. Jean leads all of the Brookdale Center's public policy, elder law, advocacy, and educational initiatives, including the work of Brookdale's Sadin Institute for Law and Public Policy.
 
Prior to joining Brookdale, she directed The Guardianship Project at the Vera institute of Justice, which provides guardianship services for elderly and disabled New Yorkers whom a judge has determined cannot care for themselves. Previously, she served as a White House Fellow with Secretary of Health and Human Services Donna E. Shalala. Earlier in her career, as a staff attorney for the Legal Aid Society and recipient of a Skadden Arps Law Fellowship, Jean represented elderly and homebound New Yorkers in such areas as housing, health care, consumer law, and entitlements.

A graduate of New York University, Jean received her law degree from Rutgers University and her Masters in Social Work from the Hunter College School of Social Work.
