Yiyi Wu supports the Brookdale Center’s policy initiatives through qualitative research and community outreach. While researching a diverse range of topics, including health, education, employment, and housing, she is specifically interested in the intersection of age, race, and technology. Yiyi received her MA in social sciences with a concentration in science and technology studies and anthropology from the University of Chicago. Her master’s thesis concerns the rhetoric of authenticity and realness in a data-driven society, where people’s everyday politics of emotion and identity are algorithmically co-produced. She also worked as a case manager in Massachusetts for a year, helping immigrant survivors of violence attain essential legal, financial, and cultural resources. She had experience mobilizing a community of health workers, activists, legislators, and policymakers to address the needs of low-income immigrants during COVID-19.
